Mental Health & Wellbeing
DESC values the mental health and wellbeing of every member of its community.
Our policies reflect the core values of respect and support for each other in every aspect of life. Although having a Mental Health Lead and Deputy is a statutory responsibility, our aim is that everyone in our community works together to feel safe and secure and is respectful of each other’s strengths and differences. Every individual is empowered to thrive within their working environment and we are passionate about embedding an ethos of positive Mental Health and Wellbeing at DESC.
At DESC, Clare Deacon is the Senior Mental Health Lead with Kane Beere, Jacqui Lee and Hannah Messer as Deputy Mental Health Leads. They are supported by the Mental Health Team as below:
The Mental Health Team aims to:
- Work together as a staff team, to support the provision of Mental Health Services for learners, parents, carers and staff.
- Raise awareness of the importance of positive Mental Health and Wellbeing for all in the DESC community.
- Ensure an ethos of supporting positive Mental Health and Wellbeing is embedded throughout DESC.
- Drive forward local initiatives and work with partnership agencies (for example DSPL 8, MHST, health services, school nursing team).
Part of the teams role is to provide up to date signposting to relevant support agencies, for more information, please refer to the Learners or Parents section on our website.
